ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS!

Following the tragic event in Thame last weekend, we are writing to you all to stress how very important it is for us all to be road safety aware. Despite frequent letters home and reminders in our newsletter, there are some people who persist in dangerous practices.

In the past two days staff and Governors have observed:

  • (On two separate occasions) parents who had correctly parked in the road outside school, who then lifted small children out of car seats and left them standing in the road whilst they rummaged around in the back seat looking for things. PLEASE HAVE THE THINGS YOU NEED READY AND GET YOUR CHILDREN OUT ON THE PAVEMENT SIDE OF THE CAR.
  • Parents who have “roared” up the driveway (including yesterday at 6pm) and parked to collect or drop children off. NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED TO PARK IN THE SCHOOL CAR PARK – AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY.
  • Parents who have crossed the driveway at a wide angle from where they parked on the road and then ambled up it without using the pavement. PLEASE USE THE CROSSING PATROL AND THE PATH, NOT THE ROAD.
  • Toddlers and older children who have run ahead of parents and straight round onto the Tiny Acorns access road without supervision. THERE ARE LORRIES AND MACHINERY USING THIS ACCESS ROAD AT THE MOMENTAND STAFF CARS MAY BE COMING DOWN IT.

On behalf of Long Crendon School, Long Crendon Pre School and Tiny Acorns, we appeal to you to protect all of our children by being road safety aware.

Our thoughts are with the family in Thame at this time.
